Fifth gathering Social Choreography Lab Helsinki

Thursday December 16th, 2021
Sali 3. Eskus Dance Center
Helsinki, Suvilahti

Facilitator: : Georgie Goater

This year's final gathering of the Social Choreography Lab Helsinki will be led by dance artist and performer Georgie Goater.
Georgie's practices stem from collaboration and betweenness, as well as bodily interests in materiality, dreaming, and process-oriented creation.
Georgie wrote about our next Social Choreography workshop, this time about Social Dreaming, a tool used also by other Social Choreography study groups:

In this Social Choreography session, we will gather to explore the sensing body and engage in the Social Dreaming Matrix developed by Gordon Lawrence, as a collective artistic practice. Participants are invited to tune in with one's own body through simple tasks connecting to breath, ground, and perceptual sensations that may lead to movement, as a collective social body unfolds through dreaming together.
Through listening, a collective web of night dreams, associations, memories, and images are woven from bodies through shared space. "The interest is in the dream, not the dreamer" - the images and associations are the interest, not the individual sharing them. The reflection process at the end of the session allows for meaning-making and drawing connections from what arose in the shared field, as well as experiential sharing.

Registration:  socialchoreography.helsinki@gmail.com

The workshop is free of charge. The space is limited so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.
